Creating Motif

Motif Needle Arts was founded by Karen Kennedy, who after forty one years as owner of Kennedy’s Tile decided to retire. An avid knitter and needlepointer, she realized the need for a needlepoint shop in Lynchburg. About thirty years ago Lynchburg’s only needlepoint store closed, and since then stitchers have traveled elsewhere to find quality canvases, threads and Persian wool. Seeing the need for more variety of knitting yarns in the area, Motif recently expanded to include yarns and accessories.

Centrally located at 254 Oakley Ave (Business Route 221) near Lynchburg College, Our bright and beautiful showroom is filled with a colorful array of threads and yarns.

Motif offers classes and refresher courses in needlepoint and knitting. Look for our classes on your front door in needlepoint, toe up socks, Entrelac, Tunisian crochet and others!
